Situated along the Fingringhoe Road on the outskirts of Colchester, this is a 12 acre lake aimed at the specialist specimen hunters, it has reputation for big fish notably "The Snake Pit Common" until her death a few years ago and recently "Dippy" which had been known to grace the bank at an impresive 48lb. Unfortunately age got the better of Dippy and she died in June 2003. There is one known forty in the water and there are a group of up and coming 30's and 20's which hopefully will continue to grow, (rumours tell of a couple of other uncaught "VERY BIG FISH"), a few Catfish to 52lb have been caught, large tench averaging 7lb and upwards and Pike. However, the water is not an easy fishery as it has a variety of snags and weed beds although the weed has not been a problem over the last year...

In 1990 John Wheatley, our ex-club secretary, decided to arrange a social outing for colleagues at the company he worked for. The outing was a fishing trip, it was so successful that 8 of the participants decided that they would like to repeat the exercise. A deposit was taken and trips were booked for the next year ahead. Sadly the firm closed down, people moved away, however a few wanted to continue fishing.
