The East Riding of Yorkshire, or simply East Yorkshire, is a local government district with unitary authority status, and a ceremonial county of England. For ceremonial purposes the county also includes the city of Kingston upon Hull, which is a separate unitary authority. It is named after the historic East Riding of Yorkshire (one of three ridings alongside the North Riding and West Riding), which also constituted a ceremonial and administrative county until 1974.
The landscape consists of a crescent of low chalk hills, the Yorkshire Wolds, surrounded by the low lying fertile plains of Holderness and the Vale of York. The Humber Estuary and North Sea mark its southern and eastern limits. The area is administered from the ancient market and ecclesiastical town of Beverley.
The western part of the district in the Vale of York borders on and is drained by the River Derwent. There are very few flood meadows left, although some significant areas remain on the lower reaches of the River. The Wolds area takes the form of an elevated, gently rolling plateau, cut by numerous deep, steep-sided, flat-bottomed valleys of glacial origin. The chalk formation of the hills provides exceptionally good drainage, with the result that most of these valleys are dry. Surface water is quite scarce throughout the Wolds.

Bakers Ponds - NewportInformation
With a name like this you would probably expect to find a pond at the back of a Farm. But this water is a former gravel pit that is very well kept and maintained. The pegs are very well kept with gravel to fish from. A number of pegs are suitable for disabled anglers. The water is lined with good tree cover and also offers good features in the margins to target such as lilies and overhanging bushes. The water is also very deep in places, and these can hold the fish when the temperature drops. An excellent place that gets the attention it deserves, especially at the price. Carp to 30lbs
