Nauru is located in the Pacific Ocean, 42kms from the equator, and over 3000 kms form its nearest neighbour (Banabar) and some 4000 kms from Melbourne. With a landmass of some 21 sq kms it is one of the smallest nations on earth. There is virtually no tourism at present nor an organized fishing industry although Narau has signed up to a regional agreement to limit commercial Tuna fishing and police intrusion.
